1. What the service is

Save My Tokens converts documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other supported formats) into markdown text and estimates how many AI tokens the conversion saves. It is a conversion tool, and:

• ❌ NOT a guarantee that any AI product will charge fewer tokens, or any particular number of tokens, for your file. Token counts are measured or estimated using published vendor rules at the time of conversion and vendors change those rules without notice.
• ❌ NOT a high-fidelity document converter. Layout, images, footnotes and complex tables may not survive.
• ❌ NOT an OCR service. Scanned PDFs with no text layer will produce little or no output and we will tell you so.
• ❌ NOT responsible for the content of the files you upload or the markdown produced from them.

What it IS: a tool that converts files YOU upload into markdown that YOU download, in a single request, with nothing retained.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, and not be barred from using the service under any applicable law.

4. Access and your responsibilities

Free use

Anyone may convert three files, each up to 25 MB, without paying. The count is kept in a cookie in your browser. Clearing it, or using another browser, is not a licence to more free use, and we may limit conversions by connection.

Paid access

Paid access is linked to the email address you used at checkout and, during our launch period, to an access code we send to that email. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your access code private. It is for you, not for sharing.
• Downloading your output. Converted markdown is returned to your browser once. We do not keep a copy and cannot re-send it.
• Your files. Having the right to upload and convert everything you upload.
• Compliance with all laws that apply to you and your files.

We are NOT responsible for

• Output you did not download before closing the page
• Use of your access code by anyone you shared it with
• Decisions you make based on token estimates or converted output
• The content of anything you upload

5. Purchase, subscription and refunds

Current offering

Pro access is sold as a 12-month subscription, currently $59 USD a year, billed annually in advance. Pro includes 300 conversions per calendar month, files up to 100 MB each, across every supported format. The count resets on the first of each month and unused conversions do not carry over. Prices are in US dollars and include any applicable tax shown at checkout. We may change the price for new purchases at any time; a price change never affects a period you have already paid for.

Payment

• Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never see or store your card details.
• Access is linked to the email address you use at checkout.
• Your subscription renews automatically each year unless you cancel. Stripe emails you before renewal.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected] or through the link in your Stripe receipt. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro access until the end of the 12-month period you have paid for. There is no pro-rata refund for the unused part of a year, except as set out under Refunds.

Refunds

• 14 days, no questions. Email [email protected] within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund.
• After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion, except where the service has a major failure. In that case you are entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law.
• Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or equivalent consumer protection law in your jurisdiction, that cannot be excluded.

Fair use

Pro is one person's own use, within the monthly cap. Reselling access, sharing an access code, scripting or automating uploads, or using the service as a backend for your own product is not covered and may result in access being revoked without refund. If you have a real need above the cap, email us before you hit it and we will talk.

6. Your files and your data

You own your files

You retain complete ownership of everything you upload and everything we return to you.

We do not keep your files

What we do keep

• A count of conversions and a random visitor identifier in a browser cookie, and for paid users the email address from checkout
• A usage record for each conversion, paywall hit and login: timestamp, file type and size, page and token counts, IP address (removed after 90 days) and the visitor identifier or subscriber email. Never the file, its name or its output. Details in the Privacy Policy.
• Standard web server logs (IP address, time, page, file size) for security and capacity, kept for a limited period

Licence you grant us

By uploading a file, you grant us a licence to process it in memory for the sole purpose of converting it and returning the result to you. That licence ends the moment the response is sent.

We do NOT claim ownership of your files, sell your data, share your files with anyone, or train AI models on your files.

7. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Upload files you do not have the right to convert
• Upload malicious files or attempt to exploit the conversion engine
• Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or breach security measures
• Share, sell or publish your access code
• Scrape, script or automate the service beyond ordinary personal use
• Overload or interfere with service operations
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

Violation may result in immediate loss of access without refund.

8. Intellectual property

Your content

Yours, before and after conversion.

Our content

We own the Save My Tokens application, design, branding, copy and the token meter. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your access is active. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works of the service.

Open source

The conversion engine uses MarkItDown, an open-source library published by Microsoft under the MIT licence. MarkItDown is a Microsoft name and Microsoft is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, Save My Tokens.

Trademarks

"Save My Tokens" and associated marks belong to PM Project Change Pty Ltd. Claude is a mark of Anthropic. ChatGPT and OpenAI are marks of OpenAI. Every other AI model, assistant and productivity product named on this site is a mark of its owner. They are named only to describe how token counting works and which tools read markdown. None of those companies is affiliated with, or endorses, Save My Tokens.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

• We do NOT warrant the service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• We do NOT guarantee that converted output will be complete, accurate, or preserve any particular formatting
• We do NOT guarantee any token count, saving, or cost outcome with any AI vendor. Token figures are measurements or estimates, clearly labelled, and vendors change their counting without notice.
• We do NOT guarantee compatibility with all devices, browsers, or file formats

Consumer law: this disclaimer does not exclude any guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, or equivalent consumer protection law in your jurisdiction, that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for lost or incomplete output, AI costs or usage charges you incur with any vendor, lost profits or business, service interruptions, third-party outages, or any indirect, consequential, incidental, punitive or special damages.

Maximum liability

Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

Consumer law

This limitation does not exclude guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, or equivalent consumer protection law in your jurisdiction, that cannot be excluded. Where we breach a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supplying it.

11. Security

• All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
• Files are processed in memory and never stored, which removes the most common breach surface entirely
• DDoS protection via Cloudflare
• Rate limits on conversions and code entry

Incident response

If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and act to contain it.

12. Termination

We may suspend or end your access if

• You breach these terms
• You engage in fraud or abuse
• Required by law
• We discontinue the service (with 30 days notice and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period)

You may end your subscription by

• Emailing [email protected] or cancelling through your Stripe receipt

Survival

Sections 6, 8, 9, 10, 14 and 15 survive termination.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will email paid users and update the date at the top at least 30 days before a significant change takes effect. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of the new terms. If you disagree with a change you may cancel and, if the change materially reduces the service within a period you have paid for, request a pro-rata refund.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer law that cannot be excluded.

15. Dispute resolution

Before taking legal action, email [email protected] with the detail. We respond within 7 business days and both parties will negotiate in good faith for 30 days.

16. Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest remains in force.
